EXPLORING THE USE OF AI IN VOCATIONAL TRAINING FOR SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

ABSTRACT: Exploring the use of AI in vocational training for sustainable design is pivotal for advancing educational methods and preparing students for future challenges. The study's objectives were to: (1) investigate the integration of AI tools in vocational training programs for sustainable design, (2) evaluate the impact of AI on student learning outcomes, and (3) identify barriers to the adoption of AI in vocational education. A survey research design was chosen to collect data from educators, students, and AI experts. The sample size included 130 respondents selected via purposive sampling from Kaduna State. The case study focused on a vocational institute specializing in sustainable design training. Findings indicated that AI tools significantly enhanced learning outcomes by providing personalized feedback and facilitating complex design tasks, although there were challenges related to access to technology and training for educators. Recommendations highlighted the need for investing in AI infrastructure, training for educators, and ongoing research to optimize AI applications in vocational education.
